　　去年清明节，我回家拜访我的祖父。清明节是民间的节日。过去，清明节被称作植树节。但是现在，中国人去往他们的家庭墓地去看那些新生的草木。除去杂草，清理垃圾，家人也会放一些事物和冥钱之类的东西。不像家庭的家用祭坛，在目的放置的东西通常是干燥、刺激性的食物。有一种理论认为，既然一个墓穴旁边有很多鬼魂，那么缺乏吸引力的食物将会被祖先们食用，而不是被陌生人夺走。

　　随着时间的推移，这样的生活庆祝成了祖先光荣的日子。继承民间宗教，中国人认为，死去的祖先的灵魂照顾着家人。供上一些事物和金钱可以让灵魂感到开心，家里就会有得到好运，有好收成或有更多的孩子。
